Authors Are Paying for Ads and Their Books Aren’t Being Seen
“Several authors have reported to IU that they’ve had disappointing sales after paying for an email advertisement, only to find their book didn’t show up in emails sent to recipients using a few of the big web-based book promotion services. Why not? Because companies like Gmail cut off emails they consider too long.”
Those of us who write often put ads in these newsletters, especially when we put the books on sale at a reduced price. I had never noticed any of my gmail e-mails being clipped, so this is information I can use. As a side note, one might ask whether an e-mail so long that it’s cut will be read all the way to the end if it isn’t clipped.
