Book Bits: U.S. Copyright Office Recommendations Based on High Litigation Costs

U.S. Copyright Office – NewsNet Issue 518.

According to the Copyright Alliance: “The U.S. Copyright Office recently put out a report on Copyright Small Claims. In short, this report has found that due to high litigation costs, this sadly, means that most artists can not protect their rights because the court is out of their reach. As a result, the U.S. Copyright Office  has come up with recommendations to better help creators, such as yourselves, protect their works in a more effective and less costly manner.

    I fear that having a “tribunal within the copyright office” will only further delay the work they already do in processing copyright registrations. Having gone through the system myself a few times, the time between initial filing, processing and receiving a registered copyright is growing longer each time.
